This winter, the littlest members of our team need someone who will be able to create a stimulating, nurturing and safe environment for them over the winter season (late May to early October) while their parents are busy running a Mt Buller ski lodge. Tobogganing, snowman building and trips to the village for hot chocolate are just a few of the favourite winter pastimes they would like their au pair to facilitate for them. At 3 years old and 6 weeks old (by the beginning of winter), they need someone who is quick, entertaining and able to communicate with pre-verbal babies and verbal toddlers, as well as someone who can help with the more routine parts of their day like changing nappies, preparing meals and putting the little one down for those all-important sleeps. Some light housework will also be required to keep their environment safe and sanitary.
Staff accommodation will provided for you with the other ski lodge workers so this role offers plenty of opportunity for socialising, skiing and snowboarding. We will work on a 5 day week with 2 days off for relaxing and enjoying the snow and mostly day time hours with the kids - extra hours can be worked in housekeeping, extra babysitting for guests or behind the bar (if you have a Victorian RSA) and are keen to keep busy.
This is a great opportunity for someone with childcare experience to work in a unique environment and live out a childhood winter dream! Couples or friends are welcome to apply as well, with one taking on the au pair role while the other can work full time in the hotel. Interviews will be required in Melbourne.
Personal Requirements:
A background in childcare and experience with babies under 2 years of age
Friendly, helpful and patient attitude, enjoy working with people
Previous housekeeping or bartending experience
Able to work on own initiative
A keen skier or snowboarder
Please note that this job will involve working mostly days and split shifts with some evenings. Applicants must hold a valid Australian work visa and be available to work the whole winter season from May to October.
