Terms and Conditions

All rooms are subject to legal maximum occupancy numbers. Alpine Retreat Mt Buller reserves the right to charge for extra persons not declared over and above the maximum stipulated for each room type on your arrival.

Guests will be held responsible for any loss or damage to Alpine Retreat Mt Buller caused by themselves, their friends or any person for whom they are responsible. Costs incurred by Alpine Retreat Mt Buller for repairs, replacements or excess cleaning will be recovered from the credit card security deposit provided by the guest.

Hotel Management is not responsible and accepts no liability for the for the loss or damage of personal belongings and valuables of guests or patrons including money, jewellery, ski equipment and clothing or any other valuables left in rooms or in areas around the hotel. Staff will, however, endeavour to return recovered items of lost property to guests where possible at the guest's expense. Guests remain solely responsible for the safekeeping of their own personal property.

Guests acknowledge that they are personally liable for the payment of all charges incurred in the Dolomiti Italiano Restaurant and Off-Piste Bar during their stay at Alpine Retreat Mt Buller.

Please abide by all swimming pool rules. The swimming pool area is unsupervised and the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller can accept no liability for events occurring from its misuse. Please also ensure that your children are supervised when using the Games Room. No alcohol, food or drinks are to be consumed in these areas.

By making payment and/or by signing, guests acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions here stated and, furthermore, consent to the use of personal information for administrative and marketing purposes within the State of Victoria's guidelines on data security and privacy. Alpine Retreat Mt Buller guarantees not to disclose guest's private information to third parties.

Payment Policy

ALL PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF GST.

A non-refundable 20% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure all reservations. All outstanding balances are due 30 days before arrival. If any deposit or final payment is not received by the due date, Alpine Retreat Mt Buller reserves the right to cancel the booking and any monies paid by you in relation to your booking will be forfeited.

Payments made by Visa, Mastercard or American Express will attract a 1.5% surcharge.

Payments made by Electronic Funds Transfer are free; please be sure to leave the booker’s name as a reference.

Once payment of your booking has been made confirmation of that payment and your booking will be sent to you via email.

A credit card imprint will be taken on arrival/check-in as a security bond. Please note that Mt Buller Resort Management requires all guests to complete a Guest Registry and provide a valid ID number for every adult (passport or driving license number) staying in the resort. Please ensure that you have a credit card and photographic ID with you for presentation on arrival.

Cancellation Policy

NO REFUNDS will be given for cancellations made within 30 days of arrival.
Any bookings cancelled outside of this 30 day period will incur a 20% cancellation fee and receive an 80% refund if fully paid.
In the event of a No Show or early check out, no refund will be provided.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Location:

Our address is: 6 Stirling Road, Mt Buller, VIC 3723
The Alpine Retreat Mt Buller is located within the alpine village of Mt Buller, approximately 200m from the village centre and Bourke Street ski run. The property is set over 4 levels and does not have a lift. Some rooms may be able to hear noise from the bar on busy nights.

CHECK in: 4pM /  CHECK out: 10aM

As is standard with hotel stays, our check in times are set to allow us enough time to clean your room properly. We only have a small staff at the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller and a lot of rooms to clean, especially on weekends, so please be patient with us. If your room is ready before 4pm, we will be happy to check you in, however we cannot guarantee this being the case, which is why we offer luggage storage facilities.

Reception opening times - MORNING: 8am to 12pm /  EVENING: 4pm to 7pm

Due to the fact that most people are out of the lodge on the ski slopes during the afternoon, our reception is only open in the morning and in the evening. Should you require assistance between 12pm and 4pm, please ring the doorbell at reception to gain the attention of our office person, who can be seen through the window above reception. If no one is present, it is most likely that they are helping someone elsewhere in the building. You can also call the lodge phone during this time on 03 5777 6500 to speak to a staff member. 

Office staff are able to check you into your room should it be clean and ready when you arrive during the afternoon, however, this is not guaranteed under any circumstances and you may be directed to leave your belongings in the luggage store until the reception reopens at 4pm.

LUGGAGE STORAGE:

Alpine Retreat Mt Buller has a small luggage storage area available for use on arrival and departure days at no extra charge so that our guests can make the most of another day at Mt Buller. This is located behind the main stairs, the first door on your left as you enter the Reception area. Please note that this area is not supervised and the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller can accept no liability for items left here. Valuables can be locked up on Reception during reception opening hours, but again, no liability is accepted.

use of facilities:

Public toilets are available on level 2, left of reception, passed the stairs and luggage store and opposite the restaurant. Changing rooms, showers and toilets are also available in the pool if you have checked out of your room already.
Guests are welcome to use communal facilities after check out or before check in, including the TV and Games room and the pool changing rooms, outside of reception opening hours.

LINEN AND TOWELS:

All linen and towels are supplied in your room. This includes, bed sheets, bath towels and extra blankets for warmth. Pool towels are also available in the pool area.

WIFI:

Free WiFi is available in the public areas of the lodge. This is not available in guest rooms.

PROPERTY NOTES

Noise:

Please note that the Alpine Retreat does have a bar and restaurant and noise may be audible in some guest rooms.

Off-Piste Bar at the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller hosts live music and events throughout the season. Please note that some rooms, especially balcony rooms and the Chamois Apartment, may be able to hear noise from the bar.

During winter the bar is open during the following times:

• from 4pm to 1am Monday to Friday,

• from 12pm to 1am on Saturday

• from 12pm to 11.30pm on Sunday

During summer the bar is open from 4pm til late, Tuesday to Saturday.

The Alpine Retreat Mt Buller is a relatively old lodge and, as such, some of the dividing walls are thin. We ask guests to be courteous of others and to keep noise to a minimum when in your room and when moving around the building, especially late at night. This is especially important when staying on the top floor in our mezzanine rooms. We are a family lodge and children may be sleeping.

Access:

The property is set over 4 floors and does NOT have a lift. There is no disabled access and paths may be snowy during winter. Most areas of the hotel are also accessed by steps due to the buildings situation on the side of a mountain.

Parking:

During winter, vehicle access is restricted into the whole Mt Buller alpine village. guests are not allowed to drive private cars into the vicinity and no parking is available at Alpine Retreat Hotel.

Overnight car parks are located on the road about 2km before the village from where you will need to take an oversnow taxi up to the lodges. All vehicles parking in the village car parks are legally required to carry snow chains, as these areas are above the snow line. Snow chains can be hired in Mansfield or Mirimbah. Car parks where snow chains are not required are located at the bottom of the hill at the resort entry gate in Mirimbah or in Mansfield, from where you can take a bus up to the resort. This will drop you in the village centre, about 150m from the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller's front door.

During summer, guests may enter the Mt Buller alpine village and park at Alpine Retreat Hotel.

USE OF FACILITIES

SWIMMING POOL and SPA:

The swimming pool at the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller is open from 2pm to 9pm. Please abide by all swimming pool rules. The swimming pool area is unsupervised and the Alpine Retreat Mt Buller can accept no liability for events occurring from its misuse. Pool towels are available for guests to use by the pool.

GAMES ROOM:

The Games Room is open from 8am to 11pm. Please leave this area neat and tidy and be considerate of other guests who may be staying in adjoining rooms with regards to making noise. No alcohol, food or drinks are to be consumed in this area.

RECEPTION:

The Alpine Retreat Reception is open from 8am to 12pm and from 4pm to 7pm during WINTER and from 4pm to 7pm during SUMMER.

YOUR STAY WITH US

MAKING A BOOKING WITH US:

At the time of booking you will be asked for your full name, a contact phone number and an email address to send your booking confirmation to. We also need to know the number of adults and children in your party. Please note that all rooms are subject to a legal maximum capacity, as stated in the room descriptions. Extra beds cannot be provided in any rooms so please make sure that you have chosen the room that will accommodate your whole party. Alpine Retreat Mt Buller reserves the right to charge for extra persons not declared over and above the maximum stipulated for each room type on your arrival. Rooms can accomodate a maximum of 1 infant aged 0-2 years and sleeping in a portacot who does not count towards the room occupancy.

CHILDREN:

Alpine rooms can sleep a maximum of 4 adults, the extra bed in an Alpine Room for 5 is for CHILDREN ONLY. Children are classed as being 2 to 14 years old. All our prices are per room so children stay free with us all winter. We can sometimes accommodate teenagers in extra beds in Alpine rooms if a family is staying together; please call to confirm.

PAYMENTS:

The full balance for your stay must be paid 30 days prior to your arrival. This includes any surcharges for bookings made using vouchers. Bookings not paid within this timeframe may be cancelled.

ON ARRIVAL:

A credit card imprint will be taken on arrival/check-in as a security bond to cover any damages sustained or expenses incurred by you and your guests. Please note that Mt Buller Resort Management requires all guests to complete a Guest Registry and provide a valid ID number for every adult (passport or driving license number) staying in the resort. Please ensure that you have a credit card and valid ID with you for presentation on arrival.

LATE CHECK-INS:

Please provide us with an estimated time of arrival and a mobile phone number so that we can reach you while you are on your way to resort should we need to. If you intend on arriving after 8pm, please call the hotel on 03 5777 6500 during the day so we can give you details of late check-in procedures through the bar. After 8pm, you can reach us on 0439 776500.

CANCELLATIONS:

Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival will receive NO REFUNDS. Any bookings cancelled before this 30 day period will incur a 20% cancellation fee unless otherwise stated. 

DATE CHANGES:

Once a booking is confirmed with us, we are only able to make one date change, providing you have booked the room at the full rate. Date changes will not be allowed less than 7 days before arrival, except under the conditions of the Mt Buller Snow Guarantee. Cancellations and/or rescheduling are not allowed once a booking has been confirmed at a promotional price or using a deal voucher. In this case, the voucher will be forfeited. No show voids voucher and booking.

MT BULLER SNOW AND SKIING

MT BULLER SNOW GUARANTEE:

The Alpine Retreat Mt Buller is covered by the Mt Buller Snow Guarantee, details of which can be found on the Mt Buller website.

MT BULLER LIFT TICKETS:

Mt Buller offers a variety of lift ticket types for skiers, snowboarders and sight seeing. Full details and prices of available lift passes can be found and booked directly through the Mt Buller Resort website.

MT BULLER SKI SCHOOL:

The Mt Buller Ski School offers instruction in skiing and snowboarding for adults and children. Different ability levels and group sizes are available. For more details, please visit the Mt Buller Ski School website.

SKI HIRE AND SNOWBOARD RENTAL:

The Alpine Retreat is one of the cheapest places on the mountain to hire basic skis and snowboarding equipment for adults and children, as well as winter clothing, walking boots and toboggans. We also have equipment for sale. Bookings are not required and walk-ins are welcome after you arrive in the Mt Buller village. For more information, please see the "Play" section of our website.
